Half Day Bertoni Museum

Visit to a Paraguayan National Park named after its creator, Moises Santiago Bertoni (15 June 1857 – 19 September 1929). He emigrated to South America in 1884. In 1899 he published his results on Stevia rebaudiana, a sweet tasting compound and the source of Stevioside.
Widely known as the wise Bertoni, he is regarded as one of the most extraordinary immigrants to ever arrive in Paraguayan lands.

From Swiss nationality, he was born in the small village of Lottigna, canton Ticino, June 15, 1857, the son of Ambrose Bertoni, a lawyer, remarkable jurist, and official, and political ticinense Josefina Torreani, teacher Milan.
