Destinations   Praia da Pipa

Praia de Pipa is a beach city located in the state of Rio Grande do Norte, Brazil. It is situated in about 70 km south of the state's capital, Natal. Pipa was a small fishing village up until the 1970s when surfers and backpackers discovered the tiny village and were allured by its immense beauty and the friendly local community.

Pipa's landscape is filled with unique natural attributes such as 10 meter high vertical cliffs, fine white sand, crystal clear waters, and preserved forest regions. After garnering attention from Brazilian vacationers, Pipa soon began attracting foreign visitors in large numbers. It quickly became known as one of the most popular and chic beaches in all of Brazil.

Today, many businesses and establishments in Pipa are run by foreigners who originally came to the city as visitors and decided to take up residency. Pipa is a quaint city, occupying a relatively small area due to laws limiting expansion which were created to protect environmental areas surrounding the village. What it lacks in size it makes up for in density, and features a large array of hotels, restaurants, night clubs, bars, and other tourism oriented businesses.
